Hello world!

I’m a Software Engineer, currently working as a DevOps Engineer at Rocket Lab in Auckland, NZ.

My professional expertise is centered around DevSecOps principles and tooling, built on experience in operations/infrastructure-based roles combined with strong software development skills.

I have worked with a variety of organisations in many different contexts. My professional experience includes working on the Hardware team at Aviat Networks, as a web (and later systems) development intern at Kordia, and now as an IT Engineer at Rocket Lab, leading some initiatives in Infrastructure automation and Kubernetes in a highly-secure environment.

I’m a strong proponent of DevOps, and keep a copy of the DevOps Handbook on my desk at all times! My current role is based around Kubernetes, GitOps, Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration management, and I have a good knowledge of Linux, vSphere and Cloud platforms.

My coding experience encompasses a variety of high and low-level languages. I’m most proficient in Python, Typescript and Java, but am currently delving into Go in my spare time. I have experience with multiple web frameworks - primarily Django, Express, React, and Flask, and have no problem delving into new tech stacks when I need.

One of my favourite completed projects was my ambitiously-scoped honours thesis - an end-to-end IoT system for environmental monitoring for Greater Wellington Regional Council. See below!

In my free time, I am a keen swimmer, amateur DJ and producer! I am currently dipping my toes into game development and some embedded code for my DIY Home Automation system.

I consider myself highly adaptable to any environment or technology and am always open to new ideas. I’m looking to create a career around DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering-type roles.
